Prior Hull Repairs

When SPINDRIFT's current owner purchased her, the boat surveyed well with the exception of blisters in the hull.  He wrote the following: "I wanted to keep the boat for a long time and wanted the blister problem properly repaired.  The cost from Snead Island Boat Works (in Florida) was $5,100.00.   I let the owner know I would buy the boat less $5,000, and have the boat stay at Snead Island Boat Works to have the work done then ship it to Massachusetts.  The yard applied a total of eight coats of Interlux (epoxy) and two coats of bottom paint, the total cost was about $5,690.00 with the five months of boat storage while the work was being done.

Sturdy Construction: Built with solid fiberglass, the boat is known for its durability and robustness, capable of handling a variety of sailing conditions.

Comfortable Interior: For a 32-foot boat, it offers a surprisingly spacious and well-laid-out interior, including a functional galley, ample storage, and comfortable sleeping accommodations.

Good Value: Often available at reasonable prices on the used market, it represents good value for sailors seeking a capable cruiser.

Cons

Performance: The full keel and heavier displacement can result in slower speeds compared to more modern, lighter designs, especially in light wind conditions.

Maneuverability: The traditional keel and rudder configuration may make tight maneuvering in marinas or crowded anchorages more challenging.

Maintenance: Being a boat from the early 1980s, some models may require updates or repairs to aging systems, such as rigging, plumbing, and electrical components.

Interior Height: While comfortable, the cabin headroom is modest, which might feel cramped for taller sailors during extended stays aboard.

Limited Modern Amenities: Compared to contemporary cruisers, the Morgan 32 may lack some of the modern conveniences and design features found in newer boats.
